My name is Yeo Ka Ing. I am eight years old. I enjoy reading all kinds of books from picture books to thick chapter books. I love all forms of arts, from fine arts to performing arts. Gustav Klimt is one of my favourite artists. His famous artwork,“Tree Of Life”, inspired me to write my second story book for my family, friends and to welcome new members in my “Family Tree”. “Growing Up: Raising New Lives” is an abstract story. I linked the process of a tree growing up to a child’s growing process. Every child has his or her own “Family Tree”. This book is also a gift to my teachers. In chinese, we often describe a teacher as “园丁” which means a gardener. My favourite Chinese proverb, “十年树木，百年树人” means “It takes ten years to grow a tree and a hundred years to bring up a generation of good men.” To my family, thank you for the wonderful “Family Tree”. To my teachers, thank you for teaching me from your hearts. To my friends, thank you for being my friends.
